Kumara Parvatha is the second highest peak in Coorg district after Tadiandamol Peak (Do check out our Tandiandamol experiences here). This peak – high at 1712m, is also called as “Pushpagiri”, and is aptly named the “Trekker’s Paradise”.
There are two trails to reach the peak. One is via Kukke Subramanya (21km) and the other is via Somwarpet (15km).
The trails have a ton of stunning visuals in harmony with rich flora and fauna on either side. It’s no doubt a daunting task to trek 23 km in one day. Also due to its logistic difficulties we prefer taking you through the Somwarpet route. We do not want our trekkers to get bone-tired, So, here we’ve made it comparatively easier with no compromise on the amazing experience.
Altitude – 1,712 M
Trail – Dense forest with a gradual inclination
Difficulty level – Moderate
Trekking Distance – 15 Km approximately
Attraction – Kumara Parvatha peak, Sesha Parvatha Peak, Mulloli waterfalls
DAY 0: Pick up from Chennai.
Day 1: Freshup at Homestay – Trek to Kumara Parvatha Peak
Day 2: Visit Mulloli Waterfalls.
Day 3: Return to Chennai
Overnight Journey from Chennai on a chilled out 600kms long drive to the Kamara Parvatha base.
A brief intro about the trek and the dos and don’ts will be given followed by plenty of playful icebreaking sessions to make everyone in the group comfortable. Our trekkers are encouraged to have light food in the night to enjoy a delightful travel.
The Starting point of the trek is a few km away from the homestay.
After fresh up and breakfast in homestay, we start our trek to the Kumara Parvatha peak. Upon paying the forest entry charges at the forest check post, we move ahead.
For most of the trek, you might not even feel the heat – all thanks to the dense forests of the Pushpagiri. There is a beautiful hanging bridge very near to the Beedahalli APC over the stream. The trees are so tall that some might seem they’re touching the sky.
No worries of getting lost as there are clear sign boards all the way. The altitude increases gradually as we proceed further. You might have to flex your muscles at a few rock patches where a little bit of rock climbing is required to make your way up. Unlike other peaks, Kumara Parvatha peak is not a steep hill – it’s a plateau!
There are two beautiful temples with flags in the summit. You can see the Sesha Parvatha peak from the spot.
After spending some quality time at the peak, we head back to the homestay before it turns dark.
A well-prepared dinner will be waiting for you at the homestay followed by campfire and activities.
Early morning after breakfast, we go straight to Mallali Falls, a few km away from our homestay.
A small hike to reach the falls and then spend some time there for relaxation.
Later that day, we start our return journey back to Chennai and end it with your self-sponsored dinner.
